My love for still images goes back to my first memories. I have always enjoyed contemplating the way that images look arranged in a specified amount of space; the way those arrangements might portray a certain message. When I was eight years old, I took my first photography class.
My first photo was of a young friend sitting atop the monkey bars at the school playground. Her legs drapped over the bars. In the distance, a full-length yellow school bus was located just beneath her body. It looked as if my friend had intentionally placed one leg on either side of the school bus. The bus created balance for the low 1/3 of the image, and provided a sense of symmetry being established for the surrounding images. I could not articulate that at eight years of age, but I knew that I liked the way the picture looked. So, I took it.
It was years before I began to trust my eye. But, once I did, there was no stopping this shutter bug. A collection of my more recent photography projects are listed below. Some of these pictures are listed because I think a magnificent sense of art and expression were captured in time. Other pictures are not as emotionally compelling, but I felt that the object in the picture had a story to tell. And, sometimes the individual story can be just as important, if not moreso, than the manner in which it is told.
